Rabid is too hot, and he's MINE!

I don't even know where to start talking about my Rabid. Did i say MY? Heck yes, so just remember that! He is hands down the sexiest, most panty-dropping dirty talker with a heart of pure gold that has ever existed in the MC Romance world. We saw at the end of the first book in this series that Rabid was feeling something of a protective nature towards Christa after her capture and torture by Fang. This book picks up after that ordeal and Christa is trying to settle back down to a normal life. Which of course we all know is not possible when dealing with evil rival MCs and when there are secrets kept and feelings hidden.
Rabid knows from the very start what he wants. He wants Christa on the back of his bike, wearing his ink, in his bed, becoming his wife and having his kids. Not all right now, but he has the whole future planned out. This does NOT match Rabid's previous personality. Something just clicked inside of him after the first time he met Christa. He is known to his brothers as someone who puts his club and family above everything but as far as women go he uses them and then loses them. Ever since he met Christa, he can't act that way anymore. He can't even get aroused by anyone else...even before Christa has ever admitted that she feels something for him! So in essence he becomes faithful to her before they are even a committed couple! Swoon!!!
Christa is trying to hide some trouble she's in with a certain charter of the MC and knows if she lets Rabid get too close she'll open up to him and it will start an all out war between MCs that will be all her fault. She tries her best to push Rabid away, but he is one stubborn man when it comes to getting the woman he wants. He knows she'll be his and he's just waiting for her to realize it. If she doesn't come to it on her own fast enough then he's prepared to do whatever it takes to get her to see where and who she belongs to. He promises her the world and they aren't just empty words. He risks literally everything for her in this book. Not only is he mouth-watering sexy with all of his muscles and ink and gruff nature, but he treats her like a princess and is constantly reminding her how much she means to him.
Rabid is who makes this book so absolutely sublime. The words that come out of his mouth either heat up my body to the point of needing a panty change and shower or melt my heart because of his blatant honesty and the depth of his feelings. When he loves, he loves all the way, with his whole being. There is no halfway in...it's all or nothing. He is a d**n machine when it comes to his bedroom antics. I've never in my life read love-making scenes that turned me on as much as Rabid's did. He growls his words and his seductive noises, ... wow, I just can't stop imagining that he's growling to me!
"The rock hard maniac between my legs had no pause, no on and off."
"Baby, give me a chance, and I'll show you how deep this heart goes. I'm not asking. I'm saying you're gonna do it, and you're gonna love it, even when I make an a** outta myself."
I would love to share some of his scorching hot lines, but I'm not for two reasons: first, because you should just read the book and experience Rabid for yourself, and two, I'm pretty sure Amazon wouldn't post my review if they were included. Lol.
You'll have to read the book to see what Rabid, Christa and the club go through and how they deal with it. It's not totally necessary to read Outlaw's Kiss first, but I would recommend it just because it gives you some background on both of these main characters. This is my second MC book I've read by Nicole Snow and I can't wait to read more of them. If you enjoy the MC erotica genre, then you owe it to yourself to give this series a go.

Holy Hotness I need a cold shower after this book

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. Holy cow is this book hot, we start this book after the fight with fang has occurred the grizzle's are still trying to clean up their club and what would one of their books be without drama boring and trust me this book is in no way shape or form boring. This is one of those books you will rush your friends out of your house shut off the ringer to the phone and hide from your children until you are done. This book grabs you from the first word and doesn't let go to the very end.

We met Rabid and Christa in the first Grizzlie's MC book. Christa was the prisoner that fang had held captive and had cut her face with a knife. Read book 1 to get the what happens when they find her. Christa helps the grizzlies turn on fang and ultimately take their club in a new direction. However there is more to Christa and the grizzlies than we found out in the first book she has had ties to them for years (no spoilers here as to what that connection is).

Rabid saved Christa first from fang then during the fire fight that happened later on. He knows he wants Christa he just has to get the girl to agree. When this book starts out Rabid is taking grief from Brass for not claiming this woman yet. Says he needs to either claim her or move on, easier said than done in Rabid's mind. When one of the members of another chapter mentions something about Christa he knows there is more to her story than she originally let on, and he is determined to find out what that is.

This book is full of biker drama that we all want. There is also a great story about love, acceptance and healing. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. It is so amazing I could not hardly put it down and that is tough to to when you know you have to work. Pick up your copy immediately you will not be sorry.

Outlaws Obsession

I loved this book. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough.

Rabid is one hot guy. He fights hard, but loves harder. He helped rescue Christa, when she was taken hostage from a home that she was tutoring at. Something about her made him reconsider his man-whoring ways.

Christa is a sweet but strong woman. She's been sliced and kidnapped on more than one occasion. She tutors kids to get by just to have her money taken away from her by a corrupt VP, from a loan she got to run her own bar.

When Christa is rescued from being held hostage and having her face sliced up, Rabid can't stop going and checking on her. He feels the need to protect her. Christa is attracted to Rabid, but she can't allow herself to be indebted to someone else.

Before the two of them know it, they find that they need each other more than anything.

I would definitely recommended this book to anyone who can stand a strong alpha man, and a determined woman who finally allows herself to trust again.

There are some steamy scenes, so if you can't handle dirty talk, or some violence, then you probably shouldn't read this. If you are able to handle the above mentioned things, you will definitely enjoy this book.

Like other titles in the series, this book has a lengthy index; many enlightening archival photos, reproductions, and maps; and frequent, well-integrated quotations from primary sources, including some quotes from soldiers in battle. The terse, fact-filled narrative may be less engaging than Albert Marrin's The Spanish-American War (Atheneum, 1991) or Don Lawson's The United States in the Spanish-American War (Abelard-Schuman, 1976), both of which devote more space to the war's leaders, but it is a solid, well-researched account.

The Author's Honesty Captivating

As someone who has wrestled with the idea of "the will of God," not only for my life, but for others, Gerald Sittser's book caught my attention. The outstanding feature of this book is the author's honesty about exploring and doing the will of God; an exploration marked by intense pain and heart-searching questions. Sittser keeps the discussion concrete, operating in the day to day world of going to work, raising the kids, grappling with pain, celebrating good times with friends. The chapter on "living in the wonder of the present moment" is some of the best writing out there to bring needed sanity and thoughtful priority to our sometimes hectic lives. Anchoring the will of God to a daily way of life rescues "God's will" from the view that God is playing heavenly hide-and-seek with us. Sittser courageously faces the "why do bad things happen" question and let's the reader ponder it deeply; yet he leads the reader from beyond the "why?" to the "how is God present" question. This is a powerfully thought-provoking book.

You just have to read it, plain and simple!

As an advisee and student of Dr. Sittser's I was naturally drawn to reading this particular book and I am so grateful I did! This particular book should be required reading for everyone! Christians are under emense pressure to discern God's calling and purpose for their lives, but Dr. Sittser has opened the door to following God's will in an exciting and freeing way. God has used this book in my life as I work through what it means to follow God's will. As a college student I have been paralized by the ominous future, but Dr. Sittser has a unique way of pulling everything into perspective and I can feel my fear melting away to a hope for everything wonderful that can be accomplished in the present moment of living in God's will. Please, read this book. Dr. Sittser is an incredibly wise and faithful man of God, he truly lives what he writes. This is one book you should not miss.

We are a group of 12 Christian women reading books to increase our understanding of God and His workings in our lives. This book was a wonderful addition to our knowledge and our libraries. We found the book to be extremely helpful in guiding our understanding of God working in our daily lives and encouraging us to continue living for God daily. We learned that God's plan is not some mystery to be solved or some treasure to be found but living daily, seeking God first and following His revealed will in our daily routines. This daily life will prepare us for the future that God has planned for our life. Mr. Sittser truly captured the reality of how to live the will of God by revealing his unique view from the combined perspective of Bible theologian, college professor, father of three and a man living in today's world. We encourage anyone trying to understand the will of God for their life to read this book and seek God's will.

Increasingly, parallel processing is being seen as the only cost-effective method for the fast solution of computationally large and data-intensive problems. The emergence of inexpensive parallel computers such as commodity desktop multiprocessors and clusters of workstations or PCs has made such parallel methods generally applicable, as have software standards for portable parallel programming. This sets the stage for substantial growth in parallel software.

Data-intensive applications such as transaction processing and information retrieval, data mining and analysis and multimedia services have provided a new challenge for the modern generation of parallel platforms. Emerging areas such as computational biology and nanotechnology have implications for algorithms and systems development, while changes in architectures, programming models and applications have implications for how parallel platforms are made available to users in the form of grid-based services.

This book takes into account these new developments as well as covering the more traditional problems addressed by parallel computers. Where possible it employs an architecture-independent view of the underlying platforms and designs algorithms for an abstract model. Message Passing Interface (MPI), POSIX threads and OpenMP have been selected as programming models and the evolving application mix of parallel computing is reflected in various examples throughout the book.

George Karypis is Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota, working on parallel algorithm design, graph partitioning, data mining, and bioinformatics.

Vipin Kumar is Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the Director of the Army High Performance Computing Research Center at the University of Minnesota. His research interests are in the areas of high performance computing, parallel algorithms for scientific computing problems and data mining.

Better read Journals than this book

I bought the book a few months ago as textbook for my semester class in high performance computing. After reading the first 3 chapters I realized that this book is a waste. The examples are only solved partially, a lot of jargons (they should have put the terminology in separate table, maybe).

I was hoping, by reading the book I'd learn something essential and got the basic philosophy of high-performance computing/parallel processing. Instead, I got more confused than before reading it! (I used to be real-time software programmer, so the field is not totally new to me). The authors tried to put everything in this small 633-pages book.

Even my professor said it is useless to read the book and referred us to other research papers [Robertazzi's papers], and yes, these IEEE/ACM papers are much clearly understood! I also found that some websites much better explaining the concept. Another book is also I guess better: "Fundamentals of Parallel Processing" by Harry F. Jordan and Gita Alaghband.

Don't waste your money on this book.

Too many mistakes.

I agree with the other reviewers who have said that this book is sloppy. There are just far too many mistakes for a 2nd edition book; very discouraging in an Addison-Wesley print.

The content is OK, and fairly thorough, but as another reviewer noted, there's considerable handwaving going on in some of the explanations.

Bottom line: a cleaned-up 3rd edition could be a very good textbook. Too bad I'm stuck with the 2nd edition :(

A sloppily written book

The content should be accessible to any graduate student but the sloppy writing style has made it unnecessarily difficult to read. Out of the many poorly written places, here is an example. In section 6.3.5 on page 248, it wrote, "Recall from section 9.3.1..." But I am only in chapter 6, how can I recall something from chapter 9. I then checked chapter 9 and found out that the forward reference was not a typo.
"Foundations of Multithreaded, Parallel, and Distributed Programming" by Gregory Andrews is a much better written book. Unfortunately, Gregory's book does not cover the same content.

Buyer Beware

Rulon S. Howells did a wonderful job with this book, hence the many reprints and editions over the years. It is well know for its awsome comparative chart of the different christian faiths. After searching several book stores for used and out of print versions of the book I found that many of the "comparative chart inserts" were missing from the older copies. Since I wanted the book AND ESPECIALLY his well know chart I was overjoyed to see that amazon offered the newly published hardback edition as recent as November of 2008! However, NO CHART! If you read the editorial review that talks about the chart insert, AND figure that you are buying a brand new book for 41 dollars!!!! you would think that the purchase would have included the foldout insert! How presumptuous of me. Sheesh. One should also know that this was a shotty quick photo copy of an older version and in some places still has the underlining and scribbles in it that were photocopied along with it! For 41 dollars! Thank you Amazon. You're better off just searching the used book store data bases and finding a "Very Good" copy where the seller lets you know that the chart is not missing. That is what I finally did. Got my chart, got my book, and for a lot less money that 41 bucks! (Fabulous reference book by the way!)

Straight forward

In 2011 this book is starting to show its age. Some of the core beliefs of some of the religions reviewed have changed since the book was published in 1940; though certain long establish churches still adhere to the key doctrines laid out in this book. (Some have even further divided.) It is also interesting that the issued discussed today in public about religion has changed over the years. This book never touches on anything sexual or of medical ethics; which seem to dominate the religious conversations these days. The book is well sourced and each chapter is laid out in a pattern of providing historical background about the church, doctrine, any divisions in the sect, and then concludes with an overview of the churches organization and governmental structure.

The churches are discussed in an alphabetical order. This is done for fairness but it can be a bit confusing since as you read you can be bouncing back in forth through historical time. You could read the book in an orderly fashion if you start with chapter 15 (Roman Catholic) then chapter 10 (Eastern Orthodox) then move to chapter 12 (Lutheran)... well then you have to know what order the different churches start. There is a very good chapter that lays out the creeds (Apostles, Nicene, and Athanasian). But the book is not the end all but an excellent introduction to the basic faiths of major christian religions.

There is one comment here on Amazon that states the book makes a conclusion about which church is true. This is a false statement. Although Mr. Howells is a Mormon there is nothing in the book or on the chart that ever makes any such conclusion. The book lays out the doctrines and makes no attempt to make any conclusions. That is left for the reader. Even the chapter on Mormons covers some historical facts about divisions among Mormons, something most of them would rather forget. Mr. Howells tries, and I think succeeds, to be totally subjective.

gentlemen: BE ADVISED THAT I DID NOT RECEIVE THE "COMPARATIVE CHART OF TEN LEADING CHURCHES ON TWENTY-THREE QUESTIONS" THAT IS LISTED IN THE CONTENTS AS BEING AN INSERT LOCATED IN THE BACK COVER.. PLEASE SEND ME THIS CHART ASAP OR I WILL HAVE TO CANCEL MY ORDER AND RETURN THE BOOK TO YOU IF I DO NOT RECEIVE SAID ITEM WITH IN FIVE DAYS. RESPECTFULY THOMAS ONEILL
