Dear Maggie. I will always love you...Keep me safe in your heart.
--Rob.
His letters thrilled her as a young woman in love for the first time, and now, many years later, they mean more than ever to Maggie McIntyre. After her husband of twenty years leaves her for a younger woman, it's the discovery of Robbie's letters that gives Maggie a renewed sense of purpose: to return to Little Bear Lake and recapture the woman she once was--the woman she knows she could be again.
But time has changed the place she knew and loved. The Harvest Moon dance hall where she worked as a waitress is closed. Still, Maggie is determined to reopen it, with the help of friends and a special man who enters her life in a most unexpected way. As they work together to make her dream come true, a powerful attraction develops between them. Maggie struggles with her feelings for a younger man whose age stands in the way of her growing affection for him. But their passion is undeniable, and soon she will have to decide which is more important to her: what other people think, or what she feels in her heart.

Amazon.com Review
In Dancing at the Harvest Moon, a story of first love rekindled, 46-year-old Maggie McIntyre has just lost her husband to another woman and sees no reason to remain in Kansas City. She decides to return to The Harvest Moon, the dance hall where she worked in college. So we go there with her, back to the beautiful Canadian town on Little Bear Lake, where Maggie faces all of those juicy yet unanswered questions: Will true love find her? Will Rob, her first love, finally forgive her? Is she prepared to face the demons that have for so long kept real passion at bay? Author K. C. McKinnon is actually "respected literary novelist" (as she is described on the dust jacket) Cathie Pelletier.
From Library Journal
This novel, a "debut" for its pseudonymous author, is being touted widely as the "female Bridges of Madison County," and it should appeal to the same audience. McKinnon is purported to have published seven literary novels under her real name, which was not divulged at press time. The story centers around a newly divorced woman and her journey back to the locale of her first "true" love some 20 years before?an idyllic lakeside retreat in New England. A major twist occurs early in the story, but the rest is fairly predictable. Both characters and story seem familiar, and there are no fresh approaches or surprises. The novel's publicity alone, however, may generate demand; television rights have been sold to Farrah Fawcett, and the book is a main selection of the Literary GuildR. Recommended for all libraries.

From Booklist
Don't publicists know at this point that whenever The Bridges of Madison County is mentioned in comparison to a new book, many readers shudder at the thought of reading it; nevertheless, they should give Dancing a chance. McKinnon's lyrical prose flows effortlessly to the last page. While cleaning the attic, Maggie McIntyre discovers a memento of her first love, Rob Flaubert. With a failed marriage behind her, Maggie plans to revisit Harvest Moon, the summer lodge where she and Rob worked. She wants to find Rob and ask his forgiveness for breaking his heart and to rekindle old friendships (and, possibly, old flames). When she arrives at Little Bear Lake, she discovers the Harvest Moon is for sale, and as she reconstructs memories from her past by purchasing the lodge, a special love finds her in a most unexpected way. K. C. McKinnon is the pseudonym of a "respected literary novelist" whose identity is closely guarded; this is her eighth book, and it is receiving the attention it deserves. TriStar Television/CBS/Farrah Fawcett own television movie rights; Good Housekeeping owns serial rights; national radio, television, and print ads are planned; and it will be a main selection of the Literary Guild and Doubleday Book Club. Accented with pencil illustrations, the book tries to replicate, or stir up, the feelings of first love. Fans of Nicholas Sparks' The Notebook will appreciate the high-quality storytelling evident from page one. A must purchase for all libraries. Melanie Duncan

I had higher hopes
By Amazon Customer
This May-December romance could've been better told. The romance between Maggie and Elliot took a bit too long to develop. We learn quite a bit about Maggie and the torch she'd carried all these years for Robert, Elliot's father. But we learned very little about Elliot and his emotional path towards this love for Maggie, the woman who was his father's first love. It's still a good and easy read, but it lacked the depth in character and emotion that I was hoping for.

First Book I've Read By This Author
By Carolina Consumer
Not what I expected from the author of a book which was made into a movie by Hallmark, "Candles On Bay Street" Reading about that movie, which I haven't seen, was what led me to investigate the author, and I decided to read this book before the other. I wasn't expecting fairly graphic sex scenes. Not what I'm interested in reading. Won't be buying hers again.

A favorite of mine.....
By S. Wilkerson
I had this book some years back, loved the story and shared it at my office and didn't see it again for over a month, one lady after the other shared it with someone else. Somewhere I still have my first copy but I decided to get another since I could only find one available on Amazon. I plan to share it with my current co-workers who will love it also I know.
