About the Author
Kristy Chambers was born in Adelaide, South Australia, in 1975. After graduating from university as a nurse at age thirty, she worked in several hospitals around Australia and wrote this memoir. She currently lives in Brisbane, intends to run away to New York City for a while and is uncomfortable speaking about herself in the third person because it's weird.

a cracking good read

I read a review for this book in the weekend paper and then took a sample from Amazon. I was hooked from the first few pages and bought the book. I enjoyed the fast pace and the mixture of tragedy and comedy. It was well written and the author's observations about herself and her patients were handled deftly, blending the ascerbic and the empathetic very well. It gave me a great insight into the world of nurses and I look forward to another book about the author's life when her seven years of nursing came to an end. Highly recommended.

Best book on Nursing!

I loved this book and read it twice. The author was graphically honest and fought against the reality of this career and its enormous toll on an individual. Her next career,I hope, is writing. Her descriptions are painful yet extremely witty. I rarely laugh aloud while reading,having been a nurse for 4+ Decades. I could not wait to read it again!It is a love/ hate relationship!

It was alright

Edgy humor? More like a negative outlook on her entire career. She's the Daria of nursing. I was looking for a more positive but still tell it like it is book and I didn't get that. I wish the reviews or description would have warned me she is not a positive (or even close) kind of thinker. Very sadistic. Overall, it was still a good read and I was able to follow her stories and sympathize.
